Trevis’ PGA Punt Plays – 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson

Welcome back to my newest edition here in FantasyDraft’s Locker Room!

If you haven’t played a PGA contest on FantasyDraft yet, I’ll fill you in. You can roster 7 golfers. Only the top 6 scores are added to your overall score, thus the lowest score of the 7 golfers in your lineup is dropped and does not count against you at all. It doesn’t matter if it was your most expensive golfer that bit the dust and missed the cut (Spieth earlier this year), or if it was a minimum salary punt play that performed like minimum price players typically do. The salaries for PGA on FantasyDraft are also rather tight so you usually must have a relatively cheap or min. priced player to help roster one or two “favorites to win”.

With that said, the purpose of this weekly PGA article is to enlighten you to the best PGA Punt Plays for the week. The overall goal here is to find the cheap golfer that can make the cut and aide your roster in case one of your “Top 6” falter or miss the cut altogether. If you roster one of these suggested players and they are the lowest score on your lineup, it usually means your “Top 6” performed adequately.

Last Week Recap: Well it was better than the last few weeks. If you played Stricker and Palmer who both finished 23rd with a very solid -9, you probably won money since the costly chalk won last week. Glover was looking good but bombed on Saturday and was part of the MDF. Knox and Kaymer missed the cut.

2018 AT&T Byron Nelson at Trinity Forest Golf Club

This course is a Par 71 made with Champion Bermuda greens and extends to reach 7380 yards long. With this being a brand new course introduced to the PGA Tour, there is ZERO course history, just recent form on similar courses.

J.T. Poston – $12,000

JT has the best recent form this week. He ranks 26th overall in total strokes gained. His individual stats have him at 20th in SG: T2G, 26th in SG: BS, and 36th in both SG: OTT and SG: APP.

Joel Dahmen – $11,900

Joel’s recent form is also pretty decent with being 29th overall in total strokes gained when factoring in 21st in SG: APP, 24th in SG: BS, and 33rd in SG: T2G.

Cameron Percy – $11,700

He comes in 31st overall in total strokes gained. The only stat within the top 40 is his 39th in SG: ARG, with the other stats being not too far behind.

Robert Garrigus – $11,300

He actually clocks in with the highest total strokes gained of this week’s Punt Plays at 19th overall. He is an amazing 3rd overall in SG: APP, 4th in SG: BS, and 11th in SG: T2G. Be forewarned, his SG: SG and SG: P are atrocious though. He seems to suck with Bermuda greens recently.

Brendon de Jonge – $10,400

He is able to come in at 43rd overall in total strokes gained with a 22nd in SG: SG and 30th in SG: P (combine him and RG together into one golfer and you have a top 20 finish).
