The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Pitcher to Target

Trevor Bauer-$17,600-CLE

Let me start by saying that you are starting your lineups with Clayton Kershaw tonight. Kershaw besides being Kershaw is in such a good spot at home against the Marlins I don’t see how you fade him. The question is who to pair Kershaw with. There are several options I am looking at tonight with the safest of the bunch being Bauer. Bauer has been excellent this season. Bauer has pitched at least seven innings in three of his four starts, has not allowed more than two runs in three of his four starts and has at least six strikeouts in each start. The Cubs are a horrible match-up for Bauer but Vegas has this game as a low scoring game with the Cubs only projected to score 3.6 runs. Bauer despite the match-up should be able to have another quality start and should be able to produce in the twenty fantasy point range.

Infielder to Target

Ronald Guzman-$5,600-TEX

Guzman is an excellent value play tonight for a couple of reasons. The first is the left-handed hitter is talented. Guzman slashed .298/.372/.434 with a .358 wOBA last season in Triple-A and started off his major league career with hits in each of his four games. Guzman has slowed down since that start with only one hit in his past five games but still has reached base safely in all but two of his starts. The second reason why I like Guzman tonight is due to the elite match-up against Kendall Graveman. Something looks wrong with Graveman right now and his numbers back me up as he has been lit up to start the season. In his five starts, Graveman has an ERA of 10.07, a WHIP of 1.88 and an HR/9 rate of 2.82. Graveman is struggling the most against left-handed hitters as he is allowing them to slash .415/.489/.732 with a .519 wOBA. Guzman is going to get at least one hit tonight and I would be shocked if he also didn’t add in an RBI and run scored with that hit.

Outfielder to Target

Matt Joyce-$6,500-OAK

Joyce is another cheap player that I feel is very safe as he takes on Doug Fister. Fister has struggled throughout his career with left-handed hitters and just last season he allowed them to slash .293/.386/.476 with a .365 wOBA. Fister also struggles with walks against left-handed hitting as his walk rate was 11.6% against them last season. The struggles with the free pass is where a player like Joyce comes into play as he is an on-base machine. Since the start of the 2016 season, Joyce has an on-base percentage of .370 and a walk rate of 15.9% against right-handed pitching. Joyce also has upside that we look for in GPPs as he has an ISO of .244 against them in that time as well. At his salary, Joyce is dollar for dollar my favorite hitter on this slate.

Zach Qualtieri

Zach Qualtieri

Zach is an accomplished fantasy player who has had success in multiple sports across multiple platforms. Zach specializes in cash games where he can often be found playing $25 H2Hs but has also had a lot of success in GPPs as an 11-time winner of a large field GPP. When not talking about fantasy sports, Zach enjoys hanging out with his son. If you have any questions about fantasy or sports in general Zach can be found on Twitter @zachsgotmoxy.
