The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Tonight is shaping up to be a bit of a chalky slate and this is one of the few times I have no issues eating the chalk. None of the three guys I mention below are likely to be low owned and I imagine each of them are over 50% owned in cash games and that is perfectly fine by me as I feel strongly about each of these guys tonight.

Pitcher to Target

Alex Wood-$22,000-LAD

Pitching is pretty ugly outside of Wood and for that reason, I am locking Wood in. Wood had a fantastic 2017 season and has looked even better in his first two starts this season. In those starts, Wood has allowed three total runs on seven hits with zero walks and ten strikeouts. Wood has not only looked excellent to start the season but he is in a great match-up tonight as the A’s suck against left-handed pitching. The A’s ranked 25th in team wOBA against them last season with a team K rate of 24.2% and so far this season they rank 29th in team wOBA with a team K rate of 25.4%. Vegas agrees with me in that Wood should dominate tonight as the Dodgers are the biggest favorites on this slate while the A’s are projected to score the least amount of runs.

Infielder to Target

Wilmer Flores-$5,900-NYM

I wrote about Flores yesterday and he paid off with two extra-base hits including a home run on his way to 21 fantasy points. I am keeping him in this article as he once again gets to face a left-handed pitcher. Flores is really that good against lefties and since the start of the 2016 season, Flores has an OPS of .961, an ISO of .310 and a wOBA of .397 against them. The left-hander that Flores is facing is also a pitcher I want to pick on as Jarlin Garcia is going to be making his first career start and in his 70 career relief appearances he has not shown much especially against right-handed hitters as he is allowing them to slug .421 with a .323 wOBA.

Outfielder to Target

Justin Upton-$9,100-LAA

The Angels exploded last night for 11 runs and have a good chance to do so again as they face a bad pitcher in Matt Moore. Moore has allowed 10 runs on 12 hits in just 7.1 innings of action this season. Moore struggles from hitters from both sides of the plate and last season allowed right-handed hitters to slug .445 with a .326 wOBA. While I like all of the Angles hitters tonight Justin Upton is my favorite of the group as he is their best hitter against left-handed pitching and one of the best in the majors. Last season Upton ranked fourth in the majors in wOBA (.472), fourth in OPS (1.155) and third in ISO (.384) against left-handed pitching out of all qualified hitters.
