The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

I normally focus on the main slate of games in this article but with an equal number of games on the early slate as the main slate I wanted to switch things up a bit and focus this article on the early slate.

Pitcher to Target

Luis Severino-$22,200-NY

There is no shortage of pitching options on the mound on the early slate with the likes of Max Scherzer and Noah Syndergaard taking the mound. While I love both of those guys the pitcher that jumps out at me as the one to target is Severino. Severino is coming off a breakout season last year in which he had an ERA of 2.98 and a K rate of 29.4% and looked even better in his first start this season. In that game against the Blue Jays, Severino pitched 5.2 scoreless innings while only allowing one hit and striking out seven. Now Severino did struggle with his command which he tends to do issuing three walks in that game but that doesn’t bother me today as I love the match-up with the Rays. The Rays have one of the weakest lineups in the majors and have really struggled to start the year. This season against right-handed pitching the Rays have a team K rate of 26.0% and rank in the bottom half of the league in team ISO and team wOBA against them.

Infielder to Target

Dixon Machado-$6,700-DET

Danny Duffy is hurt right now and I personally think the Royals should skip his start as he looked god awful against the White Sox. In that start, Duffy allowed five runs and three home runs in just four innings of work. All the damage the White Sox did was with their right-handed hitters which continues a trend for Duffy of struggling against righties. Since the start of last season, Duffy is allowing right-handed hitters to slug .456 with a .340 wOBA. The Tigers should find success today against Duffy starting with their leadoff hitter Machado who has had a nice start to the season reaching base safely in every game while also having three doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs.

Outfielder to Target

Bryce Harper-$10,300-WAS

When Harper is in a zone like he is to start the season you don’t fade him, especially against bad right-handed pitchers. Today that bad right-handed pitcher is Mike Foltynewicz who last season allowed lefties to slash .307/.384/.495 with a .375 wOBA. Foltynewicz also had an HR/9 rate of 1.42 against them. I am calling my shot with Harper and saying that Harper hits his fifth home run of the season in this one.
