The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

Pitcher to Target

Justin Verlander-$21,900-HOU

My top pitching honors of the night belong to Verlander who was fantastic in his first start of the season. In that game against the Rangers, Verlander threw six shutout innings while striking out five on his way to 23.3 fantasy points. Tonight we can fully expect a repeat performance from Verlander as he gets to take on an Orioles team that could not hit the broad side of a barn right now. I know it is still early in the season and the Orioles bats are bound to wake up but currently, the Orioles rank dead last in team wOBA at .219 and dead last in team wRC+ at 35 while having the fourth highest team K rate in the majors at 27.1%. The Vegas odds are also excellent for Verlander tonight as he is a huge -245 favorite and the Orioles are only projected to score 3.5 runs. While I will not argue with you if you want to roster Clayton Kershaw if you are only rostering one of the two expensive pitchers tonight save the salary and roster Verlander.

Infielder to Target

Jose Pirela-$6,600-SD

There is enough value on this slate from a hitters perspective that I think it is easy to fit both Clayton Kershaw and Justin Verlander into your lineups. With that being said I am going to be focusing on two hitters under $7,000 in salary today with the first of those hitters being Pirela. Pirela is not a household name due to the fact he plays for the Padres but he is a name you are going to want to know whenever the Padres face a left-handed pitcher as he was excellent against them in 2017. Last season, Pirela had an OPS of .928, an ISO of .256 and a wOBA of .390 against lefties. Not only did Pirela have a lot of success against left-handed pitching last season but the left-hander he is facing Kyle Freeland struggled against right-handed hitting. In his first season in the majors, Freeland allowed righties to have an on-base percentage of .366, allowed them to slug .437 and had a WHIP of 1.56 against them.

Outfielder to Target

Derek Fisher-$5,400-HOU

Fisher struggled in his first season in the majors last year but has started off this season nicely. In his past two games, Fisher has three hits including two triples. Fisher has also scored two runs and driven in three in those games. Tonight I like the left-handed Fisher to continue to find success as he takes on Mike Wright who has struggled to say the least against left-handed hitting. In his career, Wright is allowing lefties to slash .320/.384/.578 with a .402 wOBA.

Zach Qualtieri

Zach Qualtieri

Zach is an accomplished fantasy player who has had success in multiple sports across multiple platforms. Zach specializes in cash games where he can often be found playing $25 H2Hs but has also had a lot of success in GPPs as an 11-time winner of a large field GPP. When not talking about fantasy sports, Zach enjoys hanging out with his son. If you have any questions about fantasy or sports in general Zach can be found on Twitter @zachsgotmoxy.
