The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Monday, April 2, 2018.

Pitcher to Target

Brian Johnson-$13,500-BOS

I normally like to pay up for pitching but with Charlie Morton who don’t get me wrong is a good pitcher is your hands down top pitcher on the slate it tells you how ugly pitching is tonight. With that being said I am going to take some chances on guys I normally wouldn’t starting with Johnson as I am not a believer in the Marlins offense. Yes, the Marlins roughed up Cubs pitching to start the season but this is still a team whose best hitter is Starlin Castro and I think that speaks for itself. The Marlins bats are going to cool off a lot sooner than later. While Johnson doesn’t have the profile of a top prospect pitcher he hasn’t been awful in his limited time in the majors. While this is certainly a risky pick I have a great feeling that Johnson will produce at least 15 fantasy points which is all we can really ask for from him at his salary.

Infielder to Target

Jose Altuve-$9,500-HOU

Chris Tillman was god awful last season for the Orioles. In his 24 games with 19 of those being starts, Tillman had an ERA of 7.84, a WHIP of 1.89 and an HR/9 rate of 2.32. Tillman especially struggled on the road as he allowed hitters to slash .394/.458/.640 with a .459 wOBA in his road games last season. Those struggles make the Astros once again one of my favorite teams to stack with Altuve being my favorite hitter on their team. Altuve has picked up right where he left off last season as he has reached base safely in every game this season and has three straight games with multiple hits.

Outfielder to Target

Matt Olson-$8,500-OAK

I had Olson in this spot on opening day and he came through for me with a home run. While I don’t know if Olson is going to hit another dong tonight I do know that Olson is going to come through for us as the match-up for the left-handed Olson is too good against the right-handed Bartolo Colon. Olson last season had an OPS of 1.081, an ISO of .434 and a wOBA of .439 against right-handed pitching. Colon allowed left-handed hitters to slash .310/.357/.553 with a .381 wOBA. Colon also had an HR/9 rate of 1.83 against lefties last season.
