The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Guard

Damian Lillard-$18,900-POR

Lillard has been smoking hot in the month of February. In his nine games this month he is second in the NBA in points per game behind Anthony Davis at 32. Lillard is also adding in 4.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.1 steals in those games. Lillard has been especially hot over his past five games as he has scored at least 39 points four times and is averaging 39.4 points and 55.35 fantasy points in those games. That alone is enough for me to play Lillard without factoring in his match-up against a Kings team he has played extremely well against this season. In their three meetings, Lillard is averaging 33.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 steals+blocks, and 49.5 fantasy points. Tonight you can fully expect another big game from Lillard and I would be shocked if he was not the highest scoring guard on this slate.

Value Guard

Denzel Valentine-$8,700-CHI

I don’t love Valentine as much as I liked him last night with Zach LaVine out but even with LaVine back in the Bulls lineup, Valentine is an elite value with both Justin Holiday and Paul Zipser out. With both of those guys out Valentine will continue to be the backup shooting guard and small forward for the Bulls and should continue to play minutes in the mid to upper 20s as he has in each of the three games since the break. Valentine is not just playing consistent minutes but he is also producing at a nice level with averages of 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 25 fantasy points.

Forward/Center

LeBron James-$21,300-CLE

While the Cavs have struggled as a team since the all-star break LeBron has not. In the Cavs three games, the King is averaging 27.7 points, 12 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. James produced at least 55 fantasy points in each of those games and has produced at least 54 fantasy points in seven straight games. Tonight you can fully expect another big game from James as the Cavs take on a Nets team that is frankly a horrible defensive team. This season the Nets are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game, rank 24th in points allowed per game, and 24th in defensive efficiency. The Nets have also struggled to stop James this season as James is averaging a stat line of 31/8/9 with a steal and two blocks on his way to over 61 fantasy points.

Value Forward/Center

Frank Kaminsky-$8,600-CHA

Before I start writing my articles I make a bunch of lineups just using my gut and general knowledge. The one guy that kept making his way into those lineups was Kaminsky. Now cheap players like Kaminsky normally are off my radar after really digging into the numbers and match-ups but I am happy to say that is not the case with Kaminsky. There are two reasons why Kaminsky is staying as a player I want a lot of exposure to. The first is due to the way Kaminsky is playing. In the three games since the all-star break Kaminsky s averaging 13.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kaminsky has produced at least 19 fantasy points in each of those games and has back-to-back games with at least 29 fantasy points. The second reason why Kaminsky is a player I like tonight is due to the match-up against a weak Bulls frontcourt. The Bulls are one of the best possible match-ups for big men in the NBA especially power forwards as this season they rank 25th in fantasy points allowed and 27th in defensive efficiency to the position.
