The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Will Barton-$12,300-DEN

I know in DFS we normally avoid players playing the Spurs but tonight I don’t think you need to avoid the Nuggets completely. The reason why I don’t think you need to avoid the Nuggets tonight is due to all the key players the Spurs are missing. The Spurs are without Kawhi Leonard, Rudy Gay, and LaMarcus Aldridge that we know of and could be without even more players as this is the third game in four nights for them and the last game before the all-star break. We could see the Spurs rest some players tonight. With that being said my favorite player on the Nuggets tonight is Will Barton as Barton is playing heavy minutes on a nightly basis. Barton has played at least 33 minutes in 13 of his past 16 games. Barton is not just playing a lot of minutes but he is also producing at a high level. In his past seven games, Barton is averaging 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks+steals. Barton was able to produce at least 28 fantasy points in six of those games with one of those games coming against the Spurs.

Value Guard

Tyler Dorsey-$7,700-ATL

This pick is very likely to come back to bite me in the ass but if that does happen I am okay with it as I am a huge fan of the way Dorsey has been playing since the Hawks decided Marco Belinelli was no longer in their plans. In the four games since they sat Belinelli down and then subsequently released him Dorsey has played at least 23 minutes in each game. In those games, Dorsey is averaging 11.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 20.63 fantasy points. I expect Dorsey to put up similar production again tonight despite the below average match-up against the Bucks which would easily pay off Dorsey’s salary.

Paul George-$17,400-OKC

I am going to be watching the Thunder’s injury report closely once again today as both Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony are questionable and may miss their third straight game. If both players are indeed out George is going to see another big boost. This season with both players off the court, George has a usage rate of 42.0% and is averaging 1.33 fantasy points per minute. In the past two games with both players out George is averaging 31 points, 5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, a block, 2.5 steals, and 53 fantasy points. Even if one or both players are able to play tonight I will still like George as he still can put up numbers with both players in the lineup and he does get a fantastic match-up against LeBron James and the Cavs who have struggled against small forwards this season ranking 27th in both fantasy points allowed and defensive efficiency to the position.

Value Forward/Center

Thon Maker-$7,500-MIL

John Henson is out tonight and that puts Maker firmly on my radar. In the past two games that Henson has missed, Maker has played at least 22 minutes and is averaging 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks+steals. Maker produced over 17 fantasy points in each of those games. The match-up for Maker is also one that I like to target centers with. This season the Hawks have had all sorts of struggles against the position as they rank in the bottom five in rebounds allowed per game, blocks allowed per game, steals allowed per game and fantasy points allowed per game to the position while ranking in the bottom ten in defensive efficiency to the position.
