The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Jeff Teague-$12,500-MIN

Teague is coming off an awful game against the Pelicans in which he only scored 19.5 fantasy points but that game doesn’t bother me tonight for a couple of reasons. The first reason is due to the way Teague had been performing coming into that game. Teague prior to that game had produced at least 25 fantasy points in five of his past seven games. The second reason why I am not worried about Teague tonight is due to his elite match-up with the Cavs. As hard as this is to believe the Cavs may be the worst team in the NBA right now especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Cavs over the past month of play are allowing the most points per game and most fantasy points per game. The Cavs struggle the most against point guards as Isaiah Thomas is one of the worst defensive players in NBA history. Teague should bounce back nicely in this game and at his salary, he is going to be a staple of my cash game lineups.

Value Guard

Cory Joseph-$8,900-IND

Darren Collison has been ruled out for a couple of weeks and that is going to leave Joseph playing heavy minutes. In the three previous games that Collison has missed, Joseph is averaging 33.3 minutes a game. Joseph has not put up the best of numbers in those games as he is only averaging 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 17.2 fantasy points in those games but that should not bother you as Joseph is in an elite match-up tonight. This season the Pelicans rank 21st in fantasy points allowed per game to point guards and 18th in defensive efficiency to the position. Joseph should produce in over 20 fantasy points in this match-up which would easily pay off his salary.

LaMarcus Aldridge-$15,700-SA

I know the blowout risk is high in this game as the Spurs should easily dispatch of the Suns but even with the risk of limited minutes, I am having a hard time passing over Aldridge. Aldridge has been that good this season with Kawhi Leonard on the shelf. This season with Leonard off the court, Aldridge has a usage rate of 31.4% and is averaging 1.15 fantasy points per minute. For those of you who prefer full averages in the 44 games that Leonard has missed, Aldridge is averaging 23.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.8 steals+blocks, and 39.8 fantasy points. The Suns are also the best possible match-up for Aldridge as this season they rank dead last in fantasy points allowed and defensive efficiency to the power forward position. Aldridge even if he plays limited minutes should have a big game and he is one of your safest players on this slate.

Value Forward/Center

Bojan Bogdanovic-$10,900-IND

Bogdanovic was held scoreless against the Hornets on January 29th and after that game, I thought there would be no way I would ever roster Bogdanovic again. Well here we are and Bogdanovic is one of my favorite dollar for dollar plays on the slate as he has been fantastic in the four games since that dud. In those games, Bogdanovic is averaging 21.8 points on a 22.1% usage rate, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. Bogdanovic has produced at least 23 fantasy points in each of those four games and has produced over 30 fantasy points in three of those games. Not only is Bogdanovic smoking hot right now but the match-up with the Pelicans is also one to target. The Pelicans have struggled against wing players this season as they rank in the bottom ten in both fantasy points allowed and defensive efficiency to wings.
