The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Friday, February 2, 2018.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Guard

Khris Middleton-$13,300-MIL

Both Eric Bledsoe and Giannis Antetokounmpo are game-time decisions for the Bucks tonight and if either player misses tonight’s game Middleton has to be at the top of your target list. This season with Bledsoe of the court, Middleton has a usage rate of 30.3% and is averaging 1.01 fantasy points per minute. With Giannis off the court, those numbers jump to 34.8% and 1.14 fantasy points per minute. If we look at the four games that Giannis has missed this season, Middleton is averaging 32.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and over 55 fantasy points per game. If both players were to miss tonight’s game Middleton goes from being one of my top plays to being my top play on the slate. In the 333.2 minutes that Middleton has played this season with both Bledsoe and Giannis off the court, he has a usage rate of 38.1% and is averaging 1.19 fantasy points per minute.

Value Guard

Ian Clark-$6,800-NO

Clark is on my radar tonight for a couple of reasons. The first reason is due to the way he has performed since DeMarcus Cousins went down with an injury. In those two games, Clark played at least 20 minutes as he was used as a floor spacer for Anthony Davis and responded with averages of 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, a steal, and 23.88 fantasy points. The second reason why I like Clark tonight is due to the trade of Jameer Nelson. With Nelson gone, Clark should pick up extra minutes as this season he was averaging six more minutes per game in games that Nelson missed. The last reason why I like Clark is his salary as Clark is only $800 above site minimum tonight and rostering him allows you to pay up for some of the big guns you are going to want to roster on this slate.

Forward/Center

Anthony Davis-$21,200-NO

Davis is not a sexy pick at all but he is the correct pick with DeMarcus Cousins out. This season with Cousins off the court, Davis has a usage rate of 33.6% and is averaging 1.68 fantasy points per minute. In the past two games since Cousins went down with an injury, Davis is averaging 24 points, 15 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals. Davis has produced at least 60 fantasy points in each of those games and I don’t see him slowing down against a Thunder team that is one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA without Andre Roberson in the lineup.

Value Forward/Center

Jarrett Allen-$9,100-BKN

I love Allen as a player and have been waiting for the Nets to set him free and it looks like they finally have. Allen has started the past two games for the Nets and is coming off a career-high 26 minutes against the 76ers. In his past five games, Allen has played at least 18 minutes in each game. Allen is not just playing consistent minutes for the Nets but he is producing as many expected he would. In those five games, Allen has scored in double-figures each game and is averaging 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, a block, and 25.7 fantasy points. Tonight despite the tough match-up against a Lakers team that is allowing the third-fewest fantasy points per game to centers over the past month of play I like Allen to have another big game.
