The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Guard

Kyle Lowry-$14,600-TOR

After sitting out a couple of games due to a back injury, Lowry has returned to the Raptors lineup and looked great. In those four games, Lowry is averaging 23.8 points, 6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. Lowry has produced at least 32 fantasy points in each of those games and has three straight games with at least 37 fantasy points. Tonight I am expecting more of the same from Lowry as I love the match-up with the Hawks. Dennis Schroder is not a very good defender and this season the Hawks rank 18th in fantasy points allowed to point guards, 22nd in defensive efficiency to the position and dead last in defensive real plus-minus to the position. Lowry has also played well against the Hawks this season with averages of 13.5 points, 9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 35.05 fantasy points.

Value Guard

Jerian Grant-$11,400-CHI

Grant is not a true value play as he is over $10,000 in salary but he is a value in the sense that he is underpriced for Kris Dunn being out. With Dunn out, Grant is going to get the start as he has the past three games that Dunn has missed and is those games Grant has played well. Grant is averaging 13.67 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, and 40.67 fantasy points in those games. Tonight I am expecting more of the same from Grant as I am not a big believer in the 76ers defense against point guards despite their stout numbers against them this season.

Forward/Center

Blake Griffin-$16,300-LAC

The last time the Clippers played I said to play Griffin as he was underpriced and he paid off big time for me as he had a triple-double on his way to 69 fantasy points. With that game, Griffin is now averaging 22.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists since returning from injury if you take away the one game that Griffin only played nine minutes before leaving due to a concussion. In those ten games, Griffin has produced at least 40 fantasy points nine times and is averaging 45.15 fantasy points in those games. I don’t see any reason why Griffin doesn’t see similar production once again tonight especially if DeAndre Jordan is still out and at his salary, Griffin is still underpriced.

Value Forward/Center

Jarell Martin-$8,900-MEM

We are going to have to take a wait and see approach with Martin tonight as he is questionable with a couple of injuries and may miss tonight’s game. I personally believe that Martin is able to play tonight as he was questionable the game before and still played and if Martin is able to play I don’t see how you don’t play him with all the other injuries the Grizzlies are dealing with. The Grizzlies have a majority of their players banged up and have already ruled out Chandler Parsons and JaMychal Green for tonight’s game which means if Martin is able to play he is going to start and will likely play at least 30 minutes. Martin has played at least that number of minutes in three of his past four games and has produced in those games with averages of 13.33 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.67 blocks+steals. Martin has produced at least 22 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 29.05 fantasy points in the five games that he has played at least 30 minutes this season.
