The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Tyler Johnson-$11,200-MIA

Dollar for dollar Johnson is one of my favorite players on this slate. There are two reasons why I love Johnson tonight with Dion Waiters already being ruled out one of them. With Waiters out, Johnson should pick up his fifth straight start and in his past four starts, Johnson was excellent. In those games, Johnson averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 31.38 fantasy points. The second reason why I want to play Johnson is due to the elite match-up with the Magic. The Magic are one of the worst teams in the NBA in defending guards as this season they rank in the bottom three in fantasy points allowed to guards and in the bottom five in defensive efficiency to them.

Value Guard

C.J. Williams-$7,500-LAC

If you are playing GPPs tonight Williams should not be in your lineups as he has little upside. In cash games, however, I am a big fan of Williams due to his consistent play as of late. In his past six games, Williams has played at least 25 minutes for the injury-riddled Clippers and is averaging 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals+blocks. Williams has produced at least 16 fantasy points in all but one of those games and has produced at least 2x value in each of those games which is all we really can ask for from a player like Williams. Tonight I with none of the Clippers expected to return from injury and a decent match-up against the Kings I am expecting more of the same from Williams in this one.

Andre Drummond-$17,100-DET

I love to target centers against the Pacers as they struggle against them. This season the Pacers are allowing the most fantasy points per game to the position and have the fifth-worst defensive efficiency to the position. The Pacers are also a bad rebounding team as this season they rank in the bottom third in rebounding rate and rebounding differential. Drummond has taken full advantage of the Pacers struggles to stop centers this season as he has dominated them with averages of 16 points, 16.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3 steals+blocks. Drummond has produced at least 40 fantasy points in each of those games and there is no doubt in my mind that he hits that mark once again in this one.

Value Forward/Center

Bismack Biyombo-$7,400-ORL

Bismack is going to be chalk tonight for good reason as Nikola Vucevic is out for the Magic. When Vucevic is out Bismack normally starts and plays well. In the seven games, that Vucevic missed last season, Bismack averaged 9.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, a block and over 26 fantasy points in 34.5 minutes of action. There is no reason to think that doesn’t continue this season and you should eat the chalk in all formats.
