The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Monday, November 20, 2017.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Guard

Mario Chalmers-$8,700-MEM

I know what you are thinking how can Chalmers be my top guard tonight with all the big name guards on this slate especially in the match-up against the Trail Blazers in a game that has the lowest projected point total on the slate. The answer to that question is simple. Mike Conley is still out for the Grizzlies and that is going to mean another start for Chalmers. In the three games that Conley has missed this season, Chalmers is averaging 7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3 blocks+steals. Chalmers has produced at least 20 fantasy points in each of those three games and has produced at least that amount of fantasy points in each of the seven games that he has played at least 20 minutes which he will play tonight. While that alone is not enough to make Chalmers my top guard when you combine that with the lack of value on this slate you have a player I cannot pass over despite the horrible match-up.

Value Guard

Dwyane Wade-$10,000-CLE

I really like Wade tonight for a couple of reasons. The first reason why I like Wade tonight is the way he is playing. Wade is starting to show signs of life for the Cavs and in his past three games, he is averaging 15 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals and a block. Wade has produced at least 25 fantasy points in each of those games and is coming off a 50 fantasy point game which was the second time in his past seven games that Wade has hit the 50 fantasy point mark. The second reason why I like Wade tonight is due to the injuries in the Cavs backcourt. The Cavs are going to be without Derrick Rose once again tonight and will also be without Iman Shumpert. With both of those players out Wade should play even more minutes than normal tonight. I do have one concern with Wade tonight and that is the match-up with Avery Bradley. Wade should be guarded by Bradley when he is on the court and Bradley is one of the better defenders in the NBA.

Forward/Center

Jimmy Butler-$13,800-MIN

I am all in on Butler tonight at his salary as this may be the last chance we get to buy low on Butler. After a really slow start to his Timberwolves career, Butler is starting to look like the superstar the Wolves traded for. In his past five games, Butler is averaging 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.6 steals and just shy of a block per game. Butler has produced at least 40 fantasy points in four of those games. Not only is Butler playing well right now but the match-up against the Hornets is a favorable one as this season they are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the small forward position.

Value Forward/Center

Dillon Brooks-$7,900-MEM

I normally wouldn’t target players in a game total as low as the Trail Blazers-Grizzlies game but here I am with my second Grizzlies player in this article. Memphis is one of the few teams on this slate that offers value and I cannot help myself but targeting their cheap players. While Mario Chalmers is my favorite value play on this slate like I talked about earlier, Brooks is not far behind especially if Tyreke Evans is out. If Evans cannot play Brooks should play even more minutes than normal. Even if Evans does play I still like Brooks as he should still play in the upper 20s to low 30s. Brooks has also been producing as of late with at least 20 fantasy points in four of his past five games including a game against the Trail Blazers.
