The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

John Wall-$18,500-WAS

There is a trio of stud guards on this slate. While I love James Harden and Russell Westbrook tonight if you can only play one expensive guard on this slate Wall would be the one I target for several reasons. The first reason is due to the fact that Wall is significantly cheaper than those two guards. Wall is $2,400 cheaper than both Harden and Westbrook. The second reason why I like Wall better is due to the way he is playing. Wall continues to put up big numbers for the Wizards on a nightly basis as he is averaging 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 10.8 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.2 steals. Wall has been especially dominate in his past two games as he is averaging a stat line of 18/4.5/14.5. The last reason why I like Wall tonight is due to the match-up with the Lakers. The Lakers continue to struggle on the defensive end of the court, especially against point guards. This game should also be one of the highest scoring games on the slate as both teams like to push the tempo. Wall should easily produce 48 fantasy points for the third straight game and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was the highest scoring guard on this slate.

Value Guard

Dwyane Wade-$8,900-CLE

Wade is a player I normally don’t like to target but tonight I am having a hard time not playing Wade. The reason why I am having a hard time not playing Wade tonight is due to the way he has looked in his past two games. Wade has looked like the Wade of old. In those two games, Wade has played at least 25 minutes and has totals of 35 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal. Wade produced at least 20 fantasy points in both of those games and has produced at least 20 fantasy points the past four times he has played at least 20 minutes. With the Cavs struggling and badly needing a win Wade should easily play 20 plus minutes tonight and he should continue to produce 20 plus fantasy points in a match-up against the Rockets in a game that should be one of the highest scoring on the slate.

Joel Embiid-$14,100-PHI

Embiid is my favorite player on this slate for several reasons. The first reason is due to how good Embiid is. Embiid continues to put up huge numbers every time he takes the court. This season Embiid is averaging 20.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals while having a usage rate over 32%. The second reason why I want to play Embiid is that he seems to be off his minutes restriction. While the 76ers are still resting Embiid on back-to-backs and on random days he is playing close to 30 minutes a night. Another reason why I love Embiid is the match-up with the Kings. The Kings are a horrible team that struggles on defensive and rebounding the basketball. The Kings rank dead last in rebounding differential and dead last in fantasy points allowed per game to centers. The last and final reason why Embiid is my favorite player on this slate is his salary. Embiid is a steal at his salary compared to the other top named players on this slate.

Value Forward/Center

Richaun Holmes-$7,000-PHI

I don’t like the value at the forward/center position tonight as I feel like you are taking a chance with all the value plays. I am going to be personally passing over the really expensive forwards on this slate while loading up on the many great mid-tier options we have. With that being said if you want to load up on some of the expensive forwards on this slate and are willing to take a chance on a cheap big man than Holmes is someone to look at. Holmes made his return from injury for the 76ers recently and has seen a minutes increase in both of his games. After only playing 10 minutes in his first game against the Pacers, Holmes was able to play 15 minutes against the Jazz. I expect that to continue to be the case moving forward and Holmes should play around 18 to 20 minutes tonight in a great match-up against the Kings who I talked about earlier in this post. Holmes should not only play more minutes in a great match-up tonight but he has also shown that he doesn’t need a ton of minutes to produce solid games. Holmes is averaging 1.22 fantasy points per minute this season and he continues that trend tonight which he should that would put him right around 20 fantasy points which would easily pay off his salary.
