The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Guard

Goran Dragic-$13,400-PHO

I love to target point guards against the Suns. The Suns are the worst defensive teams in the NBA when it comes to stopping point guards. This season the Suns are allowing the second most rebounds, eight most assists, most steals, most points, and most fantasy points per game to point guards. If those numbers were not enough to get you excited about the Dragon tonight the fact that this is a revenge game should. Dragic did not leave the Suns on good terms when he was traded to Miami and has dominated the Suns since then. In those four games, Dragic is averaging 21.8 points, 4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.8 steals. Dragic has produced at least 39 fantasy points in all but one of those games and I have no doubt in my mind that he produces at least that many fantasy points in this one. At Dragic’s very affordable salary I am all in on him tonight on this small five-game slate.

Value Guard

Frank Ntilikina-$7,200-NY

After receiving limited playing time to start his career, Ntilikina has played more than 20 minutes in three of his past four games. Ntilikina has not only played more minutes but he has produced in those games as he is averaging 5 points, 7.67 assists, and 2.67 steals. Ntilikina has produced at least 17 fantasy points in each of those games and has produced at least that many fantasy points in five of his past seven games. Tonight I am expecting more of the same from Ntilikina for two reasons. First is due to this being the second night of a back-to-back for the Knicks. With Jarrett Jack being up there in age Ntilikina, in theory, should see some extra minutes tonight. The second reason is due to the match-up with the Magic. The Magic lead by Elfrid Payton who should be back in action tonight play at a fast pace and really struggle to defend point guards. This season the Magic are allowing the eighth most fantasy points to point guards.

Forward/Center

Hassan Whiteside-$13,300-MIA

Whiteside has not been great since returning from injury and is coming off one of his worst games since his breakout against the Warriors. While those numbers may scare some people away from Whiteside tonight I am not one of them. In fact, I am kind of happy that Whiteside has had some duds since coming back from injury as it has only lowered his salary. Whiteside due to those games is only $13,300 in salary which is a steal in my book as I am expecting Whiteside to bounce back tonight against the Suns. The Suns have a great DVP against centers this season but I don’t think the duo of Tyson Chandler and Alex Len can really contain Whiteside as they were not able to last season. Whiteside in his only meeting against the Suns last season went for 23 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks on his way to over 52 fantasy points. I like Whiteside to threaten that mark again tonight and like his teammate Goran Dragic I am all in on him at his salary.

Value Forward/Center

Brandon Ingram-$11,200-LAL

I don’t love the match-up for Ingram tonight against the tough Boston defense but on this slate that is lacking value options I am having a hard time passing him over. The reason why I am having a hard time passing Ingram over is due to the number of minutes he is playing on a nightly basis and his production in those minutes. Ingram has played at least 30 minutes in all but two games this season including in five straight games. In those past five games, Ingram is averaging 34.8 minutes played and producing a stat line of 16.2/5.2/2.8 with 3 blocks+steals. Ingram has produced at least 25 fantasy points in each of those games. Ingram should threaten those marks tonight as the one position Boston has struggled against this season has been the small forward position.
