The NBA Core Four

Welcome to the Core Four where we share four core plays for FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for your NBA DFS contests on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

In this article, I will be giving you four players to target in your cash game lineups for FantasyDraft. They will consist of two guards with one of the guards being a value play and two forwards/centers with one of those players being a value play as well.

Kyrie Irving-$15,300-BOS

The Kings may be the worst team in the NBA and Boston should blow the Kings out the water which should lead to limited minutes for Irving. Normally you are supposed to stay away from players that are projected to play fewer minutes especially when they are expensive like Irving is but my gut is telling me to play Irving tonight. Now my gut could be telling me to play Irving due to all the candy I ate last night and while that could be the case I think my gut is telling me to play Irving as he is the only true scorer Boston has. If Boston is going to handle the Kings with ease tonight it has to start with Irving. Irving has shown that he can handle being the man. In his seven games this season, Irving is averaging 21.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.4 steals. Irving has produced at least 40 fantasy points in three straight games and is averaging over 40 fantasy points for the season. Even if Irving plays limited minutes tonight I don’t see that changing. What I also like about Irving especially for GPPs tonight is that due to the blowout factor and the sheer size of this slate you are likely to get him at lower ownership percentages than normal.

Value Guard

Jarrett Jack-$10,000-NY

Until Jack’s salary rises or he is moved out of the Knicks starting lineup he is going to continue to be a must-start for me in cash games. Jack has played that well since taking over the Knicks starting point guard job. In those three games, Jack is averaging 6 points, 4.33 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1.33 steals. Jack has produced at least 22 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging over 25 fantasy points in those games. Not only is Jack playing well right now but I love the match-up with the Rockets. The Rockets have played at a slower pace to start the season than they did last season which has lead to them being better on the defensive end of the court but I don’t expect it to last all season long. Besides the Rockets being better on the defensive side of the ball makes them just an average defensive team. I see no reason why Jack cannot continue his success tonight and once again he is a must play for me in cash games.

Jimmy Butler-$13,100-MIN

I love the salary on Butler tonight as his salary is decreased due to his slow start. While Butler has not played up to his standards which were to be expected with him moving to a new team he still has been really good. In his five games, Butler is averaging 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.8 steals. Butler has produced at least 30 fantasy points in all but one of those games including in each of his past four games. Butler also finds himself in a favorable match-up tonight against the Pelicans. The Pelicans are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to small forwards this season. This game is also projected to be close with only a spread of 1.5 points and very high scoring with the second highest projected point total on the slate at 224.0. Butler should easily hit the 30 fantasy point mark once again tonight which would easily pay off his salary with the potential for much more.

Value Forward/Center

Marvin Williams-$7,700-CHA

Williams had a slow start to the season for the Hornets but has picked up his game recently. In his past two games, Willimas has 22 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. Williams has produced at least 24 fantasy points in each of those games. Now one of those games did come with Frank Kaminsky out of the lineup due to illness and limited in the other game with the illness. That has to be taken into account but even with Frank the Tank back to full strength tonight I still like Williams to continue to produce at those solid levels. Even if Williams puts up a dud tonight which I really don’t think he will he won’t hurt you as bad due to his cheap salary. That cheap salary is another reason why I want to roster Williams tonight as rostering him will allow you the roster savings needed to try to roster one of the studs you are going to want on this slate.
