Top Picks & Targets for NFL Week 6

In this article, I will be breaking down some of my top NFL plays on FantasyDraft position by position. I will be giving my top-ranked player at each position regardless and the reasons why I like them. I will also give you a FLEX player and this player will be my favorite player of the week at either of the skill positions minus quarterback. Now you may not be able to fit all five of these players in your lineup due to salary constrictions as while I am taking salary into account when making these plays I am not building an actual roster. This goal is with this article along with the value plays article that I will be writing later on in the week is meant to be a base to help you construct your winning lineups.

Quarterback

Deshaun Watson-$12,600-HOU

There are a lot of great quarterbacks to choose from this week but Deshaun Watson is head and shoulders above the competition in my eyes. Since taking over as the Texans starting quarterback in week two, Watson has been the best quarterback from a fantasy perspective. In those four games, Watson has 970 yards passing with 11 touchdown passes, 163 yards rushing with two scores and has produced at least 17 fantasy points in each of those games. Watson has been especially great over his past two games with ten total touchdowns and at least 34 fantasy points in both games. Not only is Watson playing great right now but he also finds himself in a great matchup this week against the Browns. The Browns are one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL, especially against quarterbacks. This season they are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to the position and have the third worst DVOA against the pass. While Watson may not hit 30 plus fantasy points again this week he should easily produce over 25 fantasy points and be one of the top two highest scoring players at the position.

Running Back

Todd Gurley-$14,600-LAR

Gurley was a bust last week against the Seahawks but that doesn’t really worry me. The reason why Gurley’s performance against the Seahawks doesn’t bother me is for a couple of reasons. The first reason is the matchup itself as the Seahawks despite some middling numbers this season are still a good defensive team. The second reason it doesn’t bother me is the fact that Gurley was one questionable play away from having a huge game as he fumbled right before the goal line and if the ball didn’t hit the pylon the Rams would have had the ball at the one instead of it being a touchback for the Seahawks. I am throwing last week’s game out the window for the reasons and focusing on Gurley’s first four weeks and his matchup this week. In the first four weeks of the season, Gurley was one of the best players in the NFL with 596 total yards and seven scores. Gurley produced at least 20 fantasy points in each of those games and had back-to-back games with at least 37 fantasy points coming into the Seahawks game. The Jaguars are the perfect matchup for Gurley as well. This season the Jaguars are allowing the second most rushing yards per game, have the worst DVOA against the run and rank in the bottom third in fantasy points allowed per game to the position. Gurley is going to bounce back this week and is one of my favorite players on this slate.

Wide Receiver

DeSean Jackson-$10,900-TB

I am really going to be watching the status of DeSean Jackson this week as he is dealing with an injury. If Jackson is healthy and able to play this week I am all over him. Patrick Peterson should be shadowing Mike Evans which would leave Justin Bethel on Jackson. Bethel is a really poor cornerback who is ranked 85th by Pro Football Focus out of cornerbacks which is one of the worst marks in the NFL. To put in other terms that may help you understand how bad Bethel and all the cornerbacks not with the last name Peterson are on the Cardinals we can look at their DVOA against opposing teams WR2 and their fantasy points allowed per game to the position. Both of those marks rank in the bottom five in the NFL. Not only is the matchup a good one for Jackson but he is playing really well right now. Jackson has gone for over 80 yards receiving and has produced at least 18 fantasy points in two of his past three games.

Tight End

Ryan Griffin-$7,800-HOU

This week at the tight end position I am playing matchups and the matchup is telling me to play Griffin against the Browns. The Browns are one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to defending tight ends. This season the Browns rank in the bottom five in DVOA and fantasy points allowed per game to the position. The Browns are allowing an average of 7.4 catches for 66.6 yards and a score to the position. They have allowed at least 19 fantasy points to the position in four of the five games they have played. Now, Griffin does not have blow you away numbers the past two weeks with only four catches for 35 yards but that doesn’t bother me as both of those games have come against teams that defend tight ends well. The one game Griffin played against a team that struggles to defend the position, Griffin exploded for 61 yards and a score on five catches. Call me crazy but that is the kind of production I expect from Griffin this week and I am all in on the Texans young tight end.

Flex

Leonard Fournette-$15,000-JAX

Fournette is my favorite running back this week and it really is not that close. The rookie from LSU continues to prove that he was well worth his draft position. This season Fournette is second in the NFL in rushing yards with 466 and first in rushing touchdowns with five. Fournette also has some value in the passing game as he has at least two catches and 20 yards receiving in four of his five games. Fournette has also been consistent as he has scored a touchdown in each of his games and has produced at least 14 fantasy points with three of his five games being games with at least 24 fantasy points. This week you can expect more of the same from Fournette as he is in a great matchup against the Rams. This season the Rams are allowing the sixth most rushing yards per game and the second most fantasy points per game to running backs.

Good luck with NFL this week!
