Top Picks & Targets for NFL Week 5

In this article, I will be breaking down some of my top NFL plays on FantasyDraft position by position. I will be giving my top-ranked player at each position regardless and the reasons why I like them. I will also give you a FLEX player and this player will be my favorite player of the week at either of the skill positions minus quarterback. Now you may not be able to fit all five of these players in your lineup due to salary constrictions as while I am taking salary into account when making these plays I am not building an actual roster. This goal is with this article along with the value plays article that I will be writing later on in the week is meant to be a base to help you construct your winning lineups.

Quarterback

Russell Wilson-$13,300-SEA

Picking my favorite quarterback was actually hard this week as there were so many that I liked. I really agonized over who to write up in this article and decided to go with Russell Wilson for a couple of reasons. The first reason why Wilson made this article as my top quarterback is due to the way Wilson is playing right now. After struggling to start the season Wilson has been his normal great self. In the past two weeks, Wilson has thrown for 668 yards and six touchdowns while also adding in 64 rushing yards and a score. Wilson has produced at least 29 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 33.06 fantasy points per game in those games. The second reason why I want to play Wilson this week is due to the matchup with the Rams. The Rams have done the exact opposite as Wilson has when it comes to their performance. The Rams were excellent in the first two weeks of the season and have been awful the past two weeks. The Rams have allowed six total touchdowns to the position the past two weeks and at least 22 fantasy points in each of the games. The final reason why I want to play Wilson this week is due to all the injuries the Seahawks have suffered at the running back position. This week the Seattle is likely to be without their top two running backs Chris Carson who is on injured reserve and C.J. Prosise.

Running Back

Le’Veon Bell-$18,000-PIT

Bell finally had the breakout week we all had been waiting for. In that game against the Ravens, Bell had 186 total yards and two scores on his way to a league-leading 37.6 fantasy points. That game marked the second straight week Bell found pay dirt as well as the second straight week Bell had at least 20 fantasy points. After those two performances, it is safe to that Bell is back to being the best running back in the NFL. Not only is he playing well but he has a great matchup against the Jaguars. The Jags have great corners and a great pass rush but really struggle against the run. This season the Jaguars are allowing the most rushing yards per game, fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs and have the 30th ranked DVOA against the run. Bell should have another huge game this week and I am having a very hard time fading him despite his very expensive price tag.

Wide Receiver

Dez Bryant-$12,300-DAL

This may be a total gut call but I really like Bryant this week. Bryant despite having to face some of the toughest cornerbacks in the NFL has not been as bad as people are making him out to be. While Bryant has not had a huge game he has been mostly effective the past three weeks with at least nine fantasy points in each of the games. One of the keys to Bryant’s success this season despite the matchups has been the fact that the Cowboys have been looking for him in the red zone. Bryant has six red zone targets already this season which is top ten for the position. Another reason why I like Bryant this week besides his red zone targets is the fact that his matchup against the Packers is an excellent one. The Packers really don’t have an elite corner and have struggled against opposing teams top wideouts for the past two seasons. I am going to call my shot with Bryant this week and say that he not only goes over 100 yards for the first time this season but that he also finds the end zone.

Tight End

Austin Seferian-Jenkins-$7,000-NYJ

There are lots of great tight ends to choose from this week but ASJ is by far my favorite of the group. Seferian-Jenkins has looked great since his return from suspension with nine catches for 77 yards on ten targets. Not only has Seferian-Jenkins looked good this season but I love the matchup this week against the Browns. This season the Browns have really struggled against tight ends. The Browns have allowed the most catches to the position, second most touchdowns and second most fantasy points per game to the position. I like Seferian-Jenkins to easily produce eight plus fantasy points once again this week. At his salary, ASJ is a must play for me this week as he is the 15th most expensive tight end on this slate and is very likely to end up as one of the top three highest scoring players at his position.

Flex

Bilal Powell-$11,600-NYJ

I doubt that Matt Forte plays this week and that is going to mean we get another week of Powell for the Jets. Powell is by far the most talented running back the Jets have and he has proven everytime that Forte has missed that he should be the feature back. In the last four weeks of last season with Forte either out or limited, Powell averaged 138 total yards and had three scores. Last week with Forte out Powell had a monster game with 189 total yards and a score on his way to 32 fantasy points. This week I have no doubt in my mind that we see a similar monster performance from Powell if Forte is out as the Jets face the Browns. The Browns have not allowed that many rushing yards per game this season but were one of the worst run defenses last season. The Browns also have struggled against pass-catching running backs which Powell is.

Good luck with NFL this week!
