The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players and one bonus play on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

If you are new to this article or forgot the format in this article I will give you a pitcher, infielder, and outfielder I am going to building my lineups around regardless of salary. I will end the article with my utility player to target. The utility player to target is my favorite hitter on this slate and the player I am going to have the most exposure to tonight.

Pitcher to Target

Chris Archer-$15,300-TB

I know that Archer has not pitched that well in the month of September but he is just too cheap for me to ignore tonight. Archer is a way better pitcher than he has shown in his past three starts especially at home. This season at the Trop, Archer has an ERA of 3.45, a K rate of 33.2% and a WHIP of 1.17. Those are elite numbers and when you look at his three starts this month none of them were at home with his only home start actually taking place in a different ballpark due to a hurricane. Now the matchup is not great as the Cubs have really heated up since their slow start to the season and rank eighth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching but it is not horrible as the Cubs also strikeout at a nice clip with a 22.5% team K rate. This may be a gut call but at Archer’s salary I like him to be the highest points per dollar pitcher on this slate and I am all in on him tonight.

Infielder to Target

Brian Dozier-$9,600-MIN

Dozier is one of my favorite hitters on this slate due to the simple fact he gets to face a left-handed pitcher in CC Sabathia. Sabathia has been pretty good as of late and has looked like the old CC that we come to love in the late 2000’s early 2010’s but that doesn’t bother me as Dozier is that good against lefties. This season Dozier has an OPS of 1.026 with an ISO of .298 and a wOBA of .424 against left-handed pitching. Dozier has also been super consistent as of late as he has reached base safely in seven straight games. I don’t see that changing tonight as Dozier has reached base eight times in his 17 plate appearances against Sabathia in his career. Dozier is a high floor high upside play tonight and he is going to be a staple of my lineups.

Outfielder to Target

Nick Delmonico-$6,800-CHW

Delmonico has picked right up where he left off since his return from the DL. After struggling in his first three games off the DL, Delmonico has been great. In his past five starts, Delmonico has three multi-hit games and two home runs. Delmonico is slugging .545 with an ISO of .273 and a wOBA of .395 in those games. Delmonico has also thrived against right-handed pitching on the road in his young career and that is the situation he finds himself in tonight. In those situations, Delmonico has an OPS of 1.148, an ISO of .405 and a wOBA of .470. Collin McHugh the right-handed pitcher he is facing has also struggled mightily against left-handed hitting this season. McHugh is allowing lefties to slash .306/.359/.447 with a .347 wOBA this season. All signs point towards Delmonico having another solid game and dollar for dollar he is one of my favorite players on this slate.

Utility Player to Target

J.D. Martinez-$10,800-ARI

This might be the easiest play of the season as Martinez gets to tee off against a bad left-handed pitcher. Martinez for those of you who don’t know has been the best in the business against left-handed pitching. This season, Martinez has an OPS of 1.376, an ISO of .518 and a wOBA of .538 against them. Not only has Martinez been the best hitter against left-handed pitching this season but he has also been the best hitter in the month of September. In his 15 games this month Martinez has an OPS of 1.488, an ISO of .613 and a wOBA of .589. Martinez has 11 home runs and 23 rbis in those games. With Travis Wood allowing right-handed hitters to slash .319/.390/.539 with an HR/9 rate of 1.81, I expect Martinez to add to all of his elite numbers tonight.
