Top Value Picks & Targets for NFL Week 2

In this article, I will be breaking down some of my top value plays on FantasyDraft position by position. I will give you one or two names at each position to consider each week. This article is meant to be used in conjunction with our top plays article that comes out earlier in the week. Using both articles will give you a great base to help with your research.

Quarterback

Philip Rivers-$10,900-LAC

Not a ton of value quarterbacks I like this week and I will personally be spending up at the position. With that being said I don’t mind Rivers this week. Rivers despite a really bad match-up against the Broncos looked great with three touchdown passes. Now I know Rivers threw for only 192 yards in that game but that doesn’t concern me as the yards are going to go up. Rivers has thrown for at least 3,500 yards in nine straight seasons with over 4,000 yards passing in eight of those seasons. The Dolphins are also not the Broncos on defense and last season they were average at best against the pass. Rivers should easily throw for close to 300 yards in this game and I would not be surprised to see him throw a couple of touchdown passes as well.

Running Back

Jacquizz Rodgers-$8,700-TB

Dollar for dollar Rodgers is my favorite player on this slate. Rodgers is too cheap in my eyes as he is going to be the main back for the Bucs with Doug Martin suspended. Rodgers showed last season that he can thrive in the main back role. In the five games that Rodgers was the feature back for the Bucs last season, he averaged 92 yards rushing and had two touchdowns. Rodgers also has the ability to catch some passes as he had 10 catches in those five games. The matchup is also a very positive one for Rodgers as the Bears struggle against the run. Last season the Bears ranked 29th in DVOA against the run. Game flow should also be in Rodgers favor as the Bucs are huge home favorites. That means the Bucs should be running the ball in the fourth quarter trying to run out the clock.

Wide Receiver

Kendall Wright-$7,700-CHI

I had Wright here last week and he let me down with only three catches for 34 yards. While those numbers were bad they were not horrible as Wright was not that expensive. I am going back to Wright this week despite those numbers and despite the fact that Wright’s salary increased for a couple of reasons. The first reason is the simple fact that the Bears lost another wide out as Kevin White suffered yet another season ending injury. With White and Cameron Meredith our for the season and Marcus Wheaton not expected to play this week, Wright is going to be the Bears number one wide out by default. The second reason why I want to play Wright this week is the Bears should be passing a lot as they are projected to be down big. The Buccaneers are a touchdown favorite on the road. This may be a bold call but I like Wright to catch at least five passes for 70 yards this week which would easily pay off his salary.

Tight End

Charles Clay-$6,000-BUF

If you watched the Podcast that I did for FantasyDraft last week you would have heard me mention, Mr. Clay. Clay was someone that I was very high on as a pivot off of Zach Ertz and boy did he come through. Clay had four catches for 53 yards and a score against the Jets on his way to over 15 fantasy points. That kind of performance does not look to be a just one-time thing for Clay either as he finished last season strong with at least 50 receiving yards and a score in three of his final four games. Clay looks to be a big part of the Bills passing game moving forwards. The match-up is not the best in the world for Clay as the Panthers do cover tight ends well. With that being said until Clay either stops performing or his salary goes up Clay is going to be a staple of my lineups moving forward.

Good luck with NFL this week!
