The MLB Daily Three Pack

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players and one bonus play on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Monday, August 21, 2017.

Pitcher to Target

Zach Davies-$16,200-MIL

Your options at the pitcher position are really thin tonight. There are only three guys really on my radar tonight. Those players are Alex WoodCole Hamels, and Zach Davies. While Wood is the pitcher I expect to produce the most fantasy points tonight, Davies is actually my top-ranked pitcher. The reason why I have Davies ranked ahead of Wood tonight is due to Davies salary. Davies is a steal at his salary of only $16,200 which is $7,400 less than Wood’s salary tonight. The reason why I think Davies is a steal at that salary is for two reasons. The first reason is the simple fact that Davies is a good pitcher. Davies has five quality starts in his past six games and in those games he has produced at least 15 fantasy points in each game. Davies is averaging 21.02 fantasy points in those games. The second reason I really like Davies tonight is the match-up against the Giants. The Giants have been the worst hitting team in the majors against right-handed pitching this season with the lowest team wOBA, team ISO, and team wRC+. Davies also will get a huge park boost as this game will be played at AT&T Park which is one of the two best pitchers parks in baseball. All signs point toward Davies continuing his great pitching ways tonight and on this slate, I think fading him would be a huge mistake.

Infielder to Target

Yonder Alonso-$7,800-SEA

I love to target left-handed hitters against Mike Foltynewicz and that is what I am going to do tonight with Yonder Alonso. Foltynewicz really struggles against lefties and this season he is allowing them to slash .295/.370/.488 with a .366 wOBA. Foltynewicz also has a WHIP of 1.70 against them and has struggled to keep the ball in the park when facing a lefty as he has an HR/9 rate of 1.56 against them this season. Alonso is not just a left-handed hitter but he is a lefty that has destroyed right-handed pitching this season with an OPS of .918, an ISO of .248 and a wOBA of .384. Alonso is also hitting the ball really well right now with hits in seven straight games. I fully expect Alonso to extend that hitting streak tonight and I like him to produce double-digit fantasy points in this one.

Outfielder to Target

Eddie Rosario-$8,400-MIN

Before I get into all the reasons why I like Rosario tonight I first wanted to get into my concerns with Rosario as there are two major concerns I have with him tonight. The first concern is the fact that the Twins are playing a doubleheader today and there is no guarantee that Rosario will be in the lineup. The second concern is the weather for this game does not look promising and the change of a rain out is vast. Now with that being said if the weather holds out and Rosario is in the lineup I don’t see how you don’t play him tonight. Rosario has been a big surprise for the Twins this season and against right-handed pitching, he is slashing .305/.355/.544 with an ISO of .239 and a wOBA of .376. Rosario is also smoking hot right now and in the month of August, he has an OPS of 1.114, an ISO of .343 and a wOBA of .454. In his 18 games this month he has six doubles, six home runs, 15 runs scored and 16 rbis. I am also a huge fan of the match-up for Rosario as Carson Fulmer will be making his first career start for the White Sox. Fulmer did not look great out of the bull pen last year and has not looked good in the minors this season with an ERA of 5.61, a WHIP of 1.56 and a HR/9 rate of 1.25. Rosario had a monster game yesterday for the Twins and all signs point towards him having another monster game in this one.

Utility Player to Target

Ryon Healy-$7,600-OAK

I have talked about Healy a lot today as I am in love with him tonight. Healy is just in the perfect position to have a big game as he gets to face the left-handed Wade Miley. Miley is an awful pitcher when facing right-handed hitting and this season he is allowing them to slash .296/.388/.471 with a .369 wOBA. Healy, on the other hand, is an excellent hitter when facing left-handed pitching. In his short career, Healy has an OPS of .953 with an ISO of .267 and a wOBA of .399 against lefties. Camden Yards is also a huge park boost for Healy. I like Healy to extend his hitting streak to nine games tonight by picking up at least two hits.
