Seeking Value: March 14

Welcome back to another edition of Seeking Value in the FantasyDraft Locker Room. There are five games on tonight’s slate, and there is plenty of action to go around, which should help us uncover some pretty nice value options. We finally made it to where four of four value plays came through for us, including Ivica Zubac who had a monster double-double. I’m confident that we’ll keep things going in the right direction tonight.

With all that said, let’s get on to my four favorites.

Jordan Crawford – SG – New Orleans Pelicans – $7,700

It’s hard to believe that Crawford is still priced here. Though it’s only been three games with a New Orleans Pelicans jersey, he’s put up two games slightly over 30 and one at 18.75. At this price, I’ll take that risk all day. The Pelicans are going to need his scoring to get past the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

The best part about this is that he’s fourth shoe, at best, on the team. The Blazers are going to be looking to stop the likes of Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and Jrue Holiday before they start even thinking about Jordan Crawford. That should give him a pretty strong upside and a relatively safe floor. I think we could be catching him on another night where he crosses the 30 FantasyDraft point mark, which would make us all very happy [and wealthy].

Steven Adams – C –Oklahoma City Thunder – $9,800

Moving on to the forward/center position, I think you want to take a look at Steven Adams tonight. After two games where he just didn’t come through for his owners, he managed to put together a nice game against the Jazz. For the box score watchers, his production has been everywhere. His range has been anywhere from the low teens to the early forties over the last month or so.

This is the Brooklyn Nets we are talking about, though. While they look better since Jeremy Lin has come back, they are still a horrible defensive team. This should be a great opportunity to use him in cash, because I think he has a safe floor. It is also a good time to use him in tournaments, because he could come through with a game approaching 40 if things really work out his way.

Zaza Pachulia – C – Golden State Warriors – $7,400

If you think it’s a good idea to use centers against the Brooklyn Nets, it’s really a good idea to use centers against the Philadelphia 76ers. I just wish it was a different center we were talking about.

I know that sounds weird when I am suggesting a play to wish it was someone else, but it’s all Steve Kerr and not Pachulia. It’s highly unlikely that Pachulia sees more than 20 minutes tonight. The plus side here is that he can put together big games even at that mark.

In fact, he put up 33.50 FantasyDraft points against the Spurs a few nights ago in just 20 minutes. At his price, he needs to finish at around 22 fantasy points, which he is more than capable of. He makes a great play in either format.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot – SG – Philadelphia 76ers- $6,000

If anyone on this list is risky, its TLC. Wow – it really took me a long time to notice that.

Brett Brown has attempted to give more time to his rookie, culminating in a 27 minute, 26.75 FantasyDraft point outing against the Lakers on Sunday. Unfortunately for TLC, the Warriors aren’t the Lakers. They aren’t great lately, to be honest, but they are going to be a little trickier for the rookie to work around.

It also doesn’t help that Robert Covington should be playing tonight. While it might not affect his minutes, it will affect his usage. At minimum price, though, I think he is worth a look because he could come through with 3-4x value on a slate where there are a lot of nice options in great spots at the top of the salary charts.

As long as you think he’s going to see the minutes, he’s worth the play tonight.
