We’re getting down to the nitty gritty, folks. It’s Week 15, which means there’s just three weeks left of regular-season daily fantasy football.
Since September, I’ve been been bringing you my top punt plays for each week of the NFL. For the remainder of the season, I’m gonna change things up a bit. Don’t worry, I’ll still be doing my punt plays, just expanding things a little bit. Since injuries and rest are becoming major factors at this stage of the game, instead of listing one player at each position, I’ll be focusing solely on quarterbacks (QB) this week.
I know you all wanna see who I’m targeting this week, so let’s get going!
Marcus Mariota, Titans ($10,900)
Mariota is a true punt play this week, but that’s what the name of this article is, right? The Patriots have been the No. 1 team against opposing quarterbacks (QB) over the past seven weeks, but that is a little misleading due to the competition they’ve been tasked to defend. Eli Manning is the only QB ranked in the top 14 they’ve had to face in that span, so there’s no need to be hesitant here. Even when Mariota isn’t on top of his passing game, he’s making plays on the ground, and he even caught a touchdown pass last week. The Patriots are 14-point favorites, and that means the Titans will be trailing, and garbage time is a great thing to have on your side in fantasy football.
Philip Rivers, Chargers ($10,800)
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Philip Rivers was the No. 1 QB in all of fantasy after Week 7, but injuries to Keenan Allen, Malcom Floyd and almost his entire offensive line have led him down a bad path. Since Week 8, Rivers is ranked 22nd among all QBs, and that’s why you’re able to get him at a very cheap $10,800. If there’s a time to get back on the bandwagon, it’s this week. With a possible move to Los Angeles next season, Rivers, who is very loyal to the community, is playing in what could possibly be the last Chargers game in San Diego, ever. If that’s not motivating, I dunno what is. The Dolphins have also allowed the sixth-most points to opposing QBs over the past four weeks and Rivers will have receiver Dontrelle Inman back in the fold after a scary neck injury sidelined him last week.
Kirk Cousins, Redskins ($10,200)
Kirk Cousins is currently the 15th-ranked QB in fantasy football. Not bad for a guy who finished the first six weeks as the 23rd-best player at the position. The Michigan State product has made steady strides throughout the 2015 campaign, and he’s shown glimpses of hope for the future, especially when playing at home. In fact, Cousins is like an entirely different player when he’s playing at FedEx Field, throwing for 12 TDs and just 2 INTs with a 74.2 CMP%, compared to 6 TDs and 9 picks on the road with a 64 percent completion rate. This week’s game is indeed in our Nation’s Capital, where he’ll get to face a Buffalo Bills defense that has been mostly mediocre vs. opposing QBs, ranking 19th against them on the season.
