The Ides of Arch

Baseball’s second-highest strikeout prone offense will step into the ring against Chris Archer and his 10.9 K/9 tonight. Advantage: Archer. Here are my picks for the night slate on Wednesday, August 19:

preferred-play

Preferred Stacks: Nationals, Tigers, Rangers, Diamondbacks, Phillies, Cubs, Yankees, Orioles (weather permitting), Pirates and Red Sox

Secondary/Contrarian Stacks: Rockies, Angels, Marlins, Reds, White Sox, Royals and Rays

Weather Concerns: The MIN/BAL game is a definite weather risk and a delay is almost a certainty. This game has serious PPD risk, so it may be worth avoiding altogether, but definitely in cash games. CLE/NYY and KC/BOS have muggy conditions and lesser concerns for a delay, but are still worth monitoring.

Note: I will update the quick picks throughout the course of the day and adjust picks according to who is in/out of lineups.

Bonus: Victor Martinez, Jose Iglesias, Brian McCann, Justin Bour, Yunel Escobar, Clint Robinson, Carlos Beltran, Dexter Fowler and Adam Eaton just missed the cut, but are all viable options this evening. I also think Jerome Williams (at least five IP with exactly one ER in past three starts) could be a sneaky tournament play in Miami.
