Altuve Extends Hitting Streak to 28

The Astros crushed the Athletics 9-3 with solid offense from Jose Altuve (who extended his hitting streak to 28 games), Jed Lowrie, and George Springer. The Tigers defeated the Indians 4-1 behind solid pitching from Alfredo Simon who picked up his 4th straight win.  The Mets beat crosstown opponent Yankees 8-2 thanks to dynamic pitching from Matt Harvey and solid hitting from Lucas Duda, Kevin Plawecki, and Eric Campbell who all went deep.  The Marlins crushed the Nationals 8-0 thanks to solid pitching from Tom Koehler, and great offense from Giancarlo Stanton and Adeiny Hechavarria who each homered and Justin Bour with 2 RBI singles.  The Rays beat the Blue Jays 4-2 after Tim Beckham plated 3 runs after a bases loaded double in the 8th.  The Braves defeated the Phillies 5-2 sparked by a homer from Andrelton Simmons in the 7th.

The Orioles pulled off the win against the Red Sox after a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 10th from David Lough, giving the O’s a 5-4 victory.  The Cardinals defeated the Braves 5-3 behind Matt Holliday’s 3 run bomb and Kolten Wong’s RBI triple despite losing starting pitcher Adam Wainwright to a season ending torn achilles injury. The Pirates pulled off a close win against the Diamondbacks thanks to Starling Marte who plated Neil Walker in the top of the 9th to give the Pirates the lead in their 2-1 victory in Arizona.  The Giants defeated the Rockies 5-4 behind timely offense from Justin Maxwell (2 run Hr) and Joe Panik’s squeeze bunt scoring Nori Aoki in the 11th inning.  The Dodgers bats were in full swing as they beat the Padres 11-8. Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier, Howie Kendrick, and Juan Uribe all hit homers in the win. The Angels were able to beat the Rangers 4-1, and the Twins evened their series with the Marlins after defeating Miami 8-5.
