Mets Extend Double Digit Win Streak

There were several close games last night, leading to another great night of MLB games. The Mets extended their win streak to 11 games tying the club record, in their 6-3 win over the Braves, thanks to solid offense from Daniel Murphy (4 RBI’s).  The Pirates beat the Cubs 5-4 behind solid batting from Gregory Polanco.  The Marlins were in full swing against the Phillies in their big 9-1 win, where every starter for Miami reached base. Martin Prado had 4 RBI’s, Adeiny Hechavarria had 4 hits, and Giancarlo Stanton homered. The Brewers defeated the Reds 4-2 behind the bats of Jean Segura (go ahead single) and home runs from Adam Lind and Aramis RamirezCorey Dickerson hit the tie-breaking home run to propel the Rockies to a 2-1 win over the Padres. Justin Maxwell hit a game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to give the Giants a 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Despite only having 1 hit, the Angels flew away with a 2-0 win over the A’s thanks to a 2 run homer from Kole Calhoun and solid pitching from Nick Tropeano. The Blue Jays defeated the Orioles 7-6 thanks to solid batting, led by Josh Donaldson. The Rays defeated the Red Sox 2-1 after a walk off single in the bottom of the 9th to score Tim Beckham. The Yankees held on to a close 2-1 win over the Tigers thanks to great pitching, holding the Tigers to only 3 hits. The Cardinals defeated the Nationals 4-1 thanks to a solid outing on the mound from Michael Wacha. The Royals beat the White Sox 3-2 thanks to Eric Hosmer who plated the game winning run in the top of the 13th inning in a game where 5 players were ejected, including the ace from both teams after the benches cleared in the 7th. Needless to say, last night was an action packed night of baseball.
