Reds, Brewers Combine for Seven Homers

Zack CozartYesterday’s Reds/Brewers game turned out to be a doozy, yielding a combined total of seven home runs between the two teams. Reds shortstop Zack Cozart was a major factor for Cincinnati in the 16-10 win, coming up big with a line of 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 1 1B, and 1 SB. Cozart was the day’s top performer fantasy-wise, posting a total of 40 fantasy points.

Two other Reds players, 3B Todd Frazier and RF Jay Bruce, also found themselves among the top performers of the day with Frazier posting 31 FPs on the day and Bruce 29. Both players cost $8,400.

Over on the west coast, we saw the Angels throttle the A’s 14-1 in the first game of the series. Angels RF Kole Calhoun put together a nice line of 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, and 3 1B during the win, giving him a total of 31 FPs.

A couple of real steals jumped into our list of top fantasy players yesterday, including Giants CF Justin Maxwell. Maxwell put up a total of 30 FPs during SF’s 6-2 victory over the Dodgers with his line of 1 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 1 3B, and 1 BB. Maxwell cost FantasyDraft players only $5,700.

Additionally, Angels 2B Johnny Giavotella, who cost only $5,600 yesterday, posted 29 FPs during the Anaheim win with his line of 1 HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, 1 1B, and 1 BB.

Around the league, we saw the Cubs take down the Pirates, 9-8, the Phillies beat out the Marlins 7-3, the Nationals top the Cardinals 2-1, and Toronto beat the Orioles, 13-6. Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion was the game’s top fantasy performer, putting up 28 FPs on 2 HR, 2 RBI, and 2 R.

It was also the Yankees over the Tigers, 5-2; the Mets over the Braves, 7-1; Boston winning on a lone run over the Rays; and the Indians over the White Sox, 6-2. The Indians’ Carlos Carrasco had the most FPs of the Cleveland/Chicago game, coming up with 26.85 on 1 ER, 4 H, 5 IP, 8 K, W.

The Royals beat the Twins for the second time this series, winning 6-5; the Padres took down the Rockies, 7-6; it was the Rangers over the Diamondbacks, 7-1; and Houston over Seattle, 6-3.
