Cruz Pushes Mariners Past Rangers

Nelson CruzIn the Emerald City yesterday, Mariners left fielder Nelson Cruz batted in a total of five runs for Seattle during an 11-10 Mariner win over the Rangers, acting as a major contributor to the team’s success. It was a Cruz single in the bottom of the 9th that finally pushed the Mariners past the Rangers, sealing the win over Texas. The Mariners improve to 5-7 on the year with the victory.

The Dodgers came up with the only shutout of the day, keeping the Rockies from scoring a single run during the 7-0 Dodger win, L.A.’s seventh win in a row.

Baltimore took down the Red Sox, 8-3, each team now with a record of 7-5, and the Mets earned their tenth win of the season, beating the Marlins 7-6. The win comes as New York’s eighth in a row.

Around the rest of the league, we saw the Braves take down the Blue Jays, 5-2, sealing up the series for ATL, and the Tigers beat out the White Sox, Detroit grabbing its tenth win of the year with the victory.

The Yankees swept the Rays with a 5-3 win, the Pirates capped off a sweep over the Brewers, Milwaukee now dropping to 2-10, and the Nationals finished up a four-game series against the Phillies with a 4-1 win, sealing the series for Washington, 3-1.

The Twins finished a series with the Indians on a high note, winning 7-2, the Astros beat the Angels 4-3, winning the series 2-1, and the Royals top the A’s, 4-2. Kansas City won the series, 2-1.

The Padres beat the Cubs 5-2, wrapping up the series for SD. The Diamondbacks finished up a four game stretch with the Giants, winning 5-1 and clinching the series with three wins. Lastly, St. Louis capped off a sweep over Cincinnati with a 2-1 win, the Cardinals improving now to 8-3.
