Utley Among Top MLB Picks of Tuesday

Chase Utley

Last night was a great night for fantasy baseball.

The best performance fantasy-wise came from Phillies 2B Chase Utley. Utley had a great line during the Philadelphia loss to the NY Mets, posting more fantasy points than any other player, but we’ll talk more about Utley’s work yesterday in just a bit.

The Mets/Phillies game marked the first home start for Mets pitcher Matt Harvey since 2013. Harvey had a fair day in terms of fantasy during the 6-5 win, putting up 23.30 FPs with a line of 3 ER, 2 HBP, 5 H, 6 IP, 8 K and W.

The Orioles improved to 4-4 with a win over the Yankees, bringing the teams’ series now to 1-1.  The game proved to be a career night for Orioles P Miguel Gonzalez, who set a new career high by striking out 10 batters.

Miami came up with an 8-2 win over the Braves. The Marlin’s right fielder Giancarlo Stanton was the top producer with four RBIs on the day.

Oakland shut out the Astros 4-0 during pitcher Kendall Graveman’s first career win. Graveman threw 5 1/3 blank innings during the win.

Now back to Utley’s big day.

Utley put 40 FPs on the board with his line of 1 HBP, 2HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, 1 1B, and 1 SB. For $9,900, he would have been a great pick up on FantasyDraft yesterday, especially considering that Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzalez, who cost $11,700, put up the second most FPs on the day with 34.75.

There were some other steals yesterday, including Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos ( 29 FPs) and Rays right fielder Steven Souza Jr. (27 FPs). Chirinos cost $6,200 and Souza Jr. ran players just $3,500.  Not a bad deal.
