Russell Westbrook, with KD out, is a Fantasy Must

WestbrookFantasyMust_fullI remember watching the playoffs a couple years ago and complaining when Russell Westbrook would dribble for the majority of the shot clock, and then pull up for a jumper without getting Kevin Durant a touch.  I didn’t doubt his talent at the time, and loved the energy he brought to the game, but thought he would be unstoppable if he would facilitate more.

This season he has elevated his level of play, which is much needed as Kevin Durant is dealing with foot pain.  He couldn’t be more active on the court: he plays great defense, pushes as well as possible, scores in a variety of ways including getting to the free throw line – a key to the huge numbers he is posting.  He is such a multiple threat and has become a better passer as well.  He is very fun to watch.

While Kevin Durant is out, although his price has gone up in Daily Fantasy, he has been worth the investment as he fills up the stat sheet. They are fighting for a playoff spot in the very tough Western conference, where the top 8-9 seeds are about as even as I can remember.  Westbrook has rose to the challenge.  Last night in a loss to the Suns, Westbrook recorded a triple double with 39 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 3 steals.  That is his third triple double this month.  Westbrook is also the first player with 5 straight games of 20 and 10 (points and assists) since he did it in 2011.

His confidence is as high as ever, and his production is very high.  How high will his price need to soar in DFS for players not to purchase him?
